Playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on GameSpy Arcade

This guide will show you how to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

1. Patching the game

There are a few version out there. If you have the Ubisoft complete version, 4.0 you can skip this step. If you don't you can get the patch here http://heroes-iii.com/indpatnd.htm

This patch will make it so you can play with any version.

2. Firewall/Router Configuration

If you have a firewall/router they will need to be configured to allow GameSpy Arcade and Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

There are a few ports that you need to add to your router, if you have one. If you are not sure how to add ports to your router, check here You will also need to add the ports that GameSpy Arcade uses, they can be found www.findports.com

Note: Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is not listed on that site. Please select your router from the list and add the ports from here www.portforward.com Some routers may need to be restarted, you should do this before moving on.

3. Creating a game in GameSpy Arcade

You need to go to the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 lobby. This is done by clicking on the icon under the “My Games” list to the left of the screen. You should get something like this:

Use the link called “Main Lobby”. This is where you can set up rooms and chat to fellow players. If you can pick a game off the list, and click “Join Game” or if there are no games showing, you can create your own game.

To make your own game, in the main lobby click “Create Game”. You will get a box that you need to fill out to suite your needs. Like this:

Once all that is done you will get a new screen, The Staging Room and should look something like the image below. This is where you can chat to players before or after the game. Wait for all players to put there status to ready by click on the button called “I’m Ready”, this can be seen by there name on the right, (Red Light = Not Ready, Green Light = Ready) then launch the game by clicking “Launch Game”.

4. Once in the game

Once the game has loaded.

Go to “Show Available Scenarios” and select a map that you wish to play on. Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large.

After choosing a map click on “Show Advanced Options”. Here you can select your options for how you start the game, handy cap, etc.

Note: Each player has to do this his/her self.

Click “Begin” and all players will load into the game and the will start. Happy Playing!
